Re: V2.5 BOOSTER CURRENT PROTOTYPE STATUS

You can't halve E-clock from the CPU to ACIA.. Believe me I went to great length to investigate all that.. http://www.exxoshost.co.uk/atari/last/16mhz/index2.htm maybe around 10th jan there... This is the main problem I have at the moment and why I am moving to the SEC CPU as you can actually contr...

Re: V2.5 BOOSTER CURRENT PROTOTYPE STATUS

I guess ACIA maxed out here (about 1.3Mhz) . I have the "B" versions *somewhere* so will change them soon and re-try... But really I maxed out what I can do with this test board... That's something I thought about regarding the "Stefan 16MHz mod" (doubleST is what I call it). The ACIAs run at 1.6MH...

Re: Silent 40x40 fan

:bravo: Can you "feel" the air flow between fans ? Normally quieter fans are shifting less airflow. But of course it does depend on bearings etc used. Well a lot of the Noctua magic is supposed to be about their bearings and total airflow layout etc - but yes - at least down-volting it as I did the...

Silent 40x40 fan

Ever since I read Dbug's blog about silencing a Mega STE, and having done the same to my own using the suggested Noctua 60x60 fan, I've wanted to do the same to my Mega ST. I did replace the original fan with the one in exxos' store, but while functional and surely better than the original, it was "...

Re: V2.5 BOOSTER CURRENT PROTOTYPE STATUS

I know the STE booster logic can work with seperate clock.. I will investigate if the STFM can operate the same.. It may be better to spend time on using a 32mhz osc but still 8/32 switching, but not in sync with system clock. It works fine on STE.. So maybe with some tweaking it can work well on t...

Re: Board "printer"?

Thanks guys - points well made and it was just the type of input I was looking for. I will not buy one ;)

Board "printer"?

I've never designed a circuit board, yet, but I've been looking at the Voltera pcb printer. I would like to get some input from those of you who regularly make board designs and send away for manufacturing how useful you believe it would be to have one for seldom prototyping and low-number manufactu...

ST with overclocked CPU/MMU/Shifter

This is the "Stefan Nitschke 16MHz mod" - see https://blog.troed.se/projects/atari-st-new-video-modes/ Do note that the tested resolution is "medium res in 16 colors" which of course impacts graphics performance. CPU runs at 16MHz MMU runs at 32MHz Shifter runs at 64MHz - all double the frequency co...

Pretty awesome!
Heh, thanks - it's nowhere near the stuff you're doing, but it's at least a baby step for someone like me who's never done any micro electronics ;) I installed Eagle yesterday ...
