Re: Troed - progress

Apparently I'm using 60/40 - which was a surprise to me. I've redone all PLCC joints but with the same result (which wasn't a surprise though* ;)). Next up I'll verify all the patches are done in the correct place, after that I'll test the ICs in other motherboards and then finally it's time to use ...

What speeds are you using ?
"100%" whatever that means on my Ultimaker 2, I don't really tweak stuff except the amount of infill depending on the strength I'm after.

The dummy cube in 6 mins print (has been 24mins)
10% infill?? :) The ones I made for you were at 100%, so solid. What did I say they took - an hour each?

Re: STE V1.5 32MHz BOOSTER - STATUS

I don't think this makes much sense actually. Constant load for almost an hour should be plenty to show any overclock issues. My other guess was that it's heat related (when I overclocked the Shifter to 64MHz a simple heatsink made a huge difference) but even then it should show up quite quickly. Ar...

Have you measured the dimensions of the dummys? I want to know where they are compared to mine :) You'll need a caliper ..
24.3mm
ABS suffers from shrinkage so you'll probably get a lot closer to 25 with PLA. Also, it doesn't stick as bad ;)

I'm impressed by your persistence with ABS. I've only used it a few times, PLA is sooo much easier to get right ...

Re: 520ST small model w/ no floppy / general advice

Another question! I've ordered a 720k external floppy drive, would the machine be compatible with 1.44mb external as well? I do have a spare WD floppy controller chip from my TT, would that upgrade the machine if I put it in? No, you need more logic around when to clock it at higher speeds - and an...

Re: My new toy...

Don't do ABS unless you absolutely need it. Way way harder to get it to stick to the plate and also not to warp while printing.

Re: Interest in MEGA ST machines ?

Well I bought a broken Mega 4 as well for 20 euro two weeks ago that only needed a new GLUE, but that you don't know until afterwards ;)

The going rate I posted above would be for the general retro market in Sweden. I've paid upwards of 120 euro for a nice one with a proper Mega ST keyboard.
