Tidying up a 3d printed case

I've just bought a SDrive Max for my 800xl. The case is an XL style case that's been 3d printed. It's fine from a distance but a bit rough and could really do with smoothing some rough edges and maybe even filling and painting to remove some imperfections. Before I start doing that, I just wanted to...

Re: SIO2SD Vs Sdrive Max?

Thanks - I've just ordered one in an XL style case (£31 plus £4 postage can't go wrong really) Still need to decide whether to keep it in its own case or integrate it into the Atari 1010 tape player case. Will see once it arrives I think. Even though my 1010 tape drive is quite beaten up, I don't l...

SIO2SD Vs Sdrive Max?

Hi all Anyone know what the advantages and disadvantages between these 2 devices are? The sdrive seems to be considerably cheaper (30ish quid versus 50 or more), but the sio2sd seems smaller which will be advantageous as I want to build it into my 1010 tape player whilst still having it work as a ta...

800XL project

So I visited Phil C the other day (hi Phil!) and traded him for an 800xl project. This computer was my first computer back in the early 80s and I have a real soft spot for it. As I progress with the restoration, I'll post updates here, but for now here's a picture of what I've got and a link to my b...

Re: Hi from Northamptonshire

PhilC I think what I was basically looking for was a machine that maybe needed some cosmetic and electronic repairs. I'm assuming there are ways to get software loaded via SD card, so I'm less bothered about a cassette deck, though my original setup had the matching chunky cassette player that was ...

I've got a few 800XLs. I'll have a look over the weekend if I feel up to it.
Thanks Phil that would be great if you can find time!

Re: Hi from Northamptonshire

Hi all Thought I'd reintroduce myself by saying hi again on my original introductory message from a couple of years ago. I've had a bit of a retro hiatus (life got in the way), but am keen to get back into things in the coming weeks. So far, I've got the ST, Amiga 500 and a couple of Spectrums repai...

Books I learnt to code from

Just found these in a box of stuff my parents cleared out of their loft - I worked through all 3 on my 800xl back before my Spectrum +2 or ST 😊

Anyone else have these?!
