Re: AtariAge acquired by Atari. Wow
If they pay him good money, I'm sure he'd do something. T3K was contentious when Atari's lawyers went after him, and clearly they made good with him for T4K and then Akka Arrh, but a few years ago that was no given. Again, current Atari ownership seems much better now than it was. I don't imagine an...

Re: Atari 2600+ preorder
I totally get folks not feeling it if it's an emulator in a box, but if it's seamless then I'm all in favour of branded hardware that takes actual cartridges. It's a much lower barrier to entry for all those old cartridges that people have lying around than finding an old console and figuring out ho...

Re: AtariAge acquired by Atari. Wow
Oh, I hadn't seen that before. That looks kind of neat. It does seem like there are some good intentions behind the current Atari brand. This is still riding the nostalgia/retro train, but I'm definitely not opposed to official modern hardware that can run old cartridges. Feels more substantial than...

Re: AtariAge acquired by Atari. Wow
I think they retired their crypto thing, which is good. There's the atari hotels thing still o the cards, I think. And there's the modern VCS. They also put out the 50th anniversary thing on multiple platforms, which got really good reviews. It apparently was a solid product, which was nice to hear ...

Re: 1040 STE Has No Video
Tiny thing to note is that you probably have a slightly different keyboard layout from that page (US vs UK), which leads to at least one fewer dome. I think the long left-shift on the US variant is the only culprit. Take photos before disassembly, pay attention to where the keys are for dome placeme...

Re: 1040 STE Has No Video
Is there any way to test that the mouse is defective before looking for a replacement mouse? Follow the advice above to use the keyboard to confirm the system is working and that the problem is either the mouse port (very common) or the mouse itself. One way or another, consider picking up a mouste...

Re: General Stuff(tm)
Cool - never knew there was a version of Worms for the jaguar...makes me wish I'd bought one when they were being virtually given away... I bought my jaguar for a tenner from Electronics Boutique around 2000? 2001? I remember hearing the rumour and me and a friend went to see what was up. To...

Re: 1040 STE Has No Video
Rather than jumping ahead to soldering jumpers and replacing caps: the good news is that the system is outputting video, so it has a heartbeat. I gather that the motherboard hasn't been removed from the case. Personally: I'd pull the board out and eyeball front and back for anything obviously bad. I...
