Re: Acorn RISC PC
I'd go gently as you suggested since I know on my A5000, even gentle cleaning cause bits to fall off!! Yes the slightest touch with the soft cotton wool on my A5000 alpha was enough to knock off some "bird seed" SMT capacitors/resistors taking their pads with them. If they were that far g...

Re: Acorn RISC PC
I've seen FAR worse than that. Vinegar and then de-ionised water for that. People who use Isopropyl alcohol don't know their chemistry. IPA is an organic solvent and the battery contents are inorganic so the IPA does absolutely nothing, similarly it does nothing to clear out the acidic vinegar. You ...

Re: Solder wire quality feedback
In my experience skimping on the quality of the solder is a false economy. The solder roll with last for a long time so paying a bit more is a tiny cost increase per use. That's why I always go for a good brand, such as Loctite. More expensive up front but far better in the long term.

Re: Atari 1040stf screen on off on low and medium resolution high ok
If your STF doesn't have composite sync then you will either need an adapter board which generates it or a special SCART cable which includes the same circuitry as TVs can't handle separate horizontal and vertical sync. An example of a simple circuit is here: https://www.retrorgb.com/building-a-pass...

Re: General Stuff(tm)
Tested the graphite paint on one of the 0.3L boxes and it should work a treat, though I'll need calmer weather to do all the boxes. It should also be very good for re-doing the rubber keypads which have lost their conductivity. In preparation for the arrival of the PCBs on Friday I've got all the co...

Is this an LCD TV?
This sounds like it's switching between RGB and composite video on the SCART input as the select voltage the SCART cable is marginal.
