Re: My (attempted) PiSTorm STacy installation

It doesn't give the same performance as 4 obviously. I think it's the same CPU setup as 3 only clocked slower. It should be good enough and help with the space requirements?? It probably would help with the space issue. I'll have to look into it. Honestly, had my heart set on the performance of the...

Re: My summer project: A colour Stacy

IIRC (it's been a long time, and my brain isn't as young as it used to be), it can be done either way, or indeed both (as long as you're using the same +5V and GND), but I decided early on in my design to avoid loading down VCC on the motherboard wherever possible, since I accidentally ended up wit...

Re: My (attempted) PiSTorm STacy installation

An RPi Zero 2W might be a better form factor? Hey Alex. You mean, considering the STacy's inherent lack of space to work with? :) I suppose it would help - but my understanding is that it has to be overclocked and doesn't give the performance return of the Pi3a+ or Pi4b? I could be wrong on that th...

Re: My summer project: A colour Stacy

Okay, another question. I've been watching a couple of the RGB2HDMI "how to" video's, and in them they state that the device draws power from the ST's motherboard. It looks like (and apologies if I've got this wrong), that other people are powering theirs using the onboard P/S connector on...

Re: My (attempted) PiSTorm STacy installation

Wow, quite the adventure, good job detailing the journey. So how is it going now? A few more people have joined (as testers) in the PiSTorm Discord channel. I think everyone is keeping their fingers crossed that Alexh will be able to find some free time to contribute to the software side of things....

Re: My summer project: A colour Stacy

Okay, I think my improper use of the English language is the barrier here. I stated, "They didn't include a power lead for the LCD itself.", when I actually meant a power lead for the controller board with the VGA, DVI, and HDMI connectors on it. I just assumed that the black connector on ...

Re: My summer project: A colour Stacy

Hey Derkom, thanks for the (quick) reply. Hmm, maybe I'm just looking at it wrong? Here's a picture: 20240321_120953.jpg Gotcha, thanks for that link - I'll grab my +12v power from there for the Pico P/S. Now I'll just have to sort out which pin is which. Thanks again! :) PS In the picture from the ...

Re: My summer project: A colour Stacy

So I do have that screen and controller board in now and I'm dying to get it setup. They didn't include a power lead for the LCD itself. What did everyone use and/or recommend for that? Also, I posted this in another place but haven't received any answers yet but, I do want to continue using the ser...

Re: 12V needed for ST?

Perfect timing on this subject. :) Once before, I powered my STacy with a Pico P/S and simply tied 5v into the extra floppy drive power lead, and this worked fine. It's my understanding though (and please correct me if this is wrong) that the serial port also requires 12v? If that is so, where would...
