Re: List of planned upgrades.. Plus recasing....

According to GB6 you have TOS 1.06 in there which is early STE TOS.

Re: List of planned upgrades.. Plus recasing....

The Tos switcher... does anyone know if that comes with a tos chip? or would i need to program one myself? currently on 1.04 but definately interested in the later revisions.. The blue boards come with ROM the blacks ones don't, they are also assembled, the blue ones are not. I would also like the ...

Re: Exxos PSU + CT2B Falcon

If Atari just had releaaed the Falcon at 25/50 MHz and with the possibility to add FAST-RAM it would have made such a difference. Totally agreed. When you think about it, the CT2 is made of quite common components, there's no special magic involved as the CPU/FPU/new GAL functionality could have be...

Re: When is a ST not a ST anymore ?

Petari is right, only real problems are "undocumented features". But these can always be fixed. For example Suska shifter core does not know about "wakeup states". So some demos will fail. But now these problems are known and better understood, these can be added into future revisions of the core. M...

Re: My latest restoration in pictures

I just cannot, as a registered business, leave 30+ year-old caps on a unit and call it restored. :bravo: Its like driving a car for 30 years without ever changing the engine oil. Sure it may still go, blowing out smoke like mad, reducing the life of the engine, but who cares as long as its still mo...

Re: STE V1.5 32MHz BOOSTER - STATUS

I took out the GAL and all the resistors and basically hardwired the CPU in as a stock setup, and it still does not work.. So I am back to thinking this is sort of bad connection fault again.. Though I do not like getting into these "going around in circles" problems. I guess it is possible these PC...

Re: STE V1.5 32MHz BOOSTER - STATUS

So running 2 days now, it decided to die again.. which mirrors the same thing as I talked about earlier https://www.exxoshost.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=24&t=46&start=80#p6446 I think not all CPU's can run at 40MHz.. Oddly this CPU started working for a short time, then died again. Its not working ...

Re: PSU 230V vs 110V

Posted today. Surely it's fixable but I have realised that I'm too lazy to desolder the cap(s), investigate which (quality) ones I need to purchase, order it, wait, solder, obtain a 110V power source and then finally put on eBay. If it helps you to extend your knowledge or improve your products, th...

Small update.

Final PCBs are now on order for this design. So hopefully in the near future they will be in stock in my store :)

Re: Motherboard capacitors - which to replace?

It's not so simple to simply test with ESR meter to see if caps are OK or not. You only get a indication, not a straight forward good or bad test. I tested some a while ago, if you heat them up (like in PSU's next to heatsink) value increases a lot and ESR falls to near zero. Surely not ? Testing ne...
