Re: 2.2 Booster in MegaST4

Did you remove the motherboard ROMs ? I6 error is nothing to worry about. In 8Mhz mode you might be able to disconnect the 16Mhz wire and see if it improves. Maybe even try without the buffer board. You can also remove the DUALTOS ROM, refit the motherboard ROMs and try TOS104 see if that changes a...

Re: 2.2 Booster in MegaST4

The Gal on the buffer board took some good damage(there when I got it). Wondering if that is a possible issue? I assume the Code is proprietary Exxos?

I could dump what I have on that Gal see if it matches what you have? But I also assume if it was corrupt it just would not work.

Re: 2.2 Booster in MegaST4

So pin 13 wired up to switch.. same flaky display issues.. in TOS 1.04 from dualtos - floppy continues to boot even though screen is bad. L46 is a Ferrite bead inductor.. why its going to that pin?? I dont know.. all I know is I have seen it before in other MegaSTs. But in MOST I have seen L46 is ju...

Re: 2.2 Booster in MegaST4

Pin 13 to 0v forces 8mhz mode. ahh so a switch then. You have to remove the motherboard ROMs. The jumper selects the bank in the dualtos chip. ok.. I'll remove the roms. As for resistors, read the bottom of the page https://www.exxosforum.co.uk/atari/last/V22BOOSTER/index.htm Yep.. read that. James

Re: 2.2 Booster in MegaST4

Why do you have 2 sets of ROMs running ? I used the jumper on the booster to switch between 1.04 and 2.06??? -J5 right? Are you sure you not shorted out the 2 BG pads when soldering ? YES - the upper pad is actually missing.. cant touch it.. not me :) The diode on the shifter is a untested mod. I d...

Re: 2.2 Booster in MegaST4

Sounds good. Yes I need to do the line patch on the bottom of the board. I dont think that was ever done by the owner. I will wire it the way I think it should.. and post some pictures. please give comment. James OK, so back of board done, machine is back to 100% without the booster. Ran it for 6 h...

Re: 2.2 Booster in MegaST4

Any pictures of a working install for connections in a MEGAST?? Anyone have any sort of install instructions for this? This computer that it was in, is one of the ones with IMP chipset, so not ideal. ALSO I had to wire a L46 diode up to one of the pins of the shifter, so the shifter buffer would nee...

Re: Bikerbob's H5 C1 build

All I know is you would have to remove the PLCC CPU because you can only have one CPU on the bus at one time. Other than that, as far as I know, you are in untested territory and will be the only person to try it. Yeah, I did remove the PLCC cpu, but was not able to successfully boot the pak/3 stac...

Re: Bikerbob's H5 C1 build

Anyone used a H5 to test a PAK/3 tower? I have a PAK/3 stack that I am having troubles with in a MegaST4 board. I need ANOTHER board to test the stack in. If I was going to try and use the H5 - would I need to remove the PLCC CPU?? or could I have the jumpers set on the STack to use the 030 and its ...
