My TSR-80 cart arrived this morning, the contacts are best described as awful:

Looking much better after a clean with a fibreglass pencil, IPA and contact cleaner.

What I may try doing is sticking a strip of mylar on top of the foam strip and then punching the disc out as a single unit rather than doing them individually and sticking them together afterward.

It is extremely low resistance, you're right, and having read the latest posts it wouldn't be suitable as it'd likely just short the contacts. Interesting subject though. That tape is quite a low resistance. We use it at work for boiler lagging. What about conductive painting the surfaces? It is extremely low resistance, you're right, and having read the latest posts it wouldn't be suitable as it'd likely just short the contacts. Interesting subject though. Would it...

Might be something to consider, it's metal tape with adhesive on one side, came with my PGA reballing machine for using to isolate components from heat.
