Re: Conic Electronic Soccer - Hand Held Game
When I was young there were a lot of these things about, and also things like Space Invaders with electroflourescent displays and also the electromechanical games that Tomy used to make. I had one of those Tomy games, licensed by Palitoy, "Demon Driver". I agree about the LCD things. Demo...

Re: Conic Electronic Soccer - Hand Held Game
Very cool, I do like these sort of thing. When I was young there were a lot of these things about, and also things like Space Invaders with electroflourescent displays and also the electromechanical games that Tomy used to make. I never did like the LCD games so much though, the ones with the pre-dr...

Re: General Stuff(tm)
Well done @stephen_usher , those are definitely an interesting computer to add to your collection. Well, I won't be keeping them. I'll be passing them on to other enthusiasts at the Portable Computing festival in Cambridge in May. I've just not got the space. Speaking of which I've just had a messa...

Re: General Stuff(tm)
The last items I had shipped from the US took around 3 weeks maybe 4, now you're going to be in parcel purgatory instead of me.stephen_usher wrote: ↑Sat Mar 23, 2024 8:04 pm Oh, and it seems that the foam+foil key pads have just been shipped from TexElec. I wonder how many weeks it'll take to get here.

Re: General Stuff(tm)
Completed the refurb of the second Kaypro today. Drive B wasn't spinning to I bit the bullet and got it out. This involved getting a screwdriver in through the far side of the machine, underneath the tube to loosen one of the screws. It also meant drilling the heads off the two pop rivets whoever h...

Re: OSI 600D Superboard Build
Well, the 74LS00 I removed from the Kaypro would technically have passed the tester's test as the voltages it was outputting were above the TTL level (as long as you didn't change them too quickly) but it wouldn't work properly in circuit. I've had several marginal chips like that come out of syste...

I'd have to check back but they were from eBay. I ran all the new ones through the TL866 and they all passed fine.stephen_usher wrote: ↑Fri Mar 22, 2024 4:47 pm Where did you get those previous chips? I need to avoid that supplier.

Re: Icky made me do it - TRS-80 CoCo
OK, so I have also got to the bottom of why the Coco1 doesn't work with the CocoSDC. It needs extended basic, which the Dragon has but my Coco doesn't. So I need to track down how I can upgrade to Extended basic, I think I just need to install an additional ROM in the empty socket, then it should al...
