Re: STE DMA sound system

that would be a simpler solution but a bit risky. In case of 50Khz, it needs pass 16bits data 3 times per a scanline, but it would be blocked when a display is active and the SHIFTER grabs a data from the bus. Makes sense. If data is passed 3 times per scanline then there isn't going to be much ban...

Re: STE DMA sound system

Seems a bit more involved than I thought. I was assuming 16bits were passed for left and right audio channels directly to the DACs.

I'll dig out the suska code when I get on the PC later and see how DMA is handled there.

STE DMA sound system

How is it supposed to work exactly ? AFAIK the sound data is passed in the left video border ? Though on a 50Hz screen, with say 250 lines per frame, that only gives 12,500Hz. There are 2 DMA channels so even if the right border is used, its still only 12khz x2  Reason is, I'm wonder if its p...

Re: BLITTER RE-CREATION THOUGHTS

I've cleaned up this topic as there is a new thread about the shifter related stuff. https://www.exxosforum.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=80&t=6057 Back to the blitter... Also drifting off topic.. I wonder if a audio volume control could be done in the blitter faster than the CPU can do it ? Won't...

Re: Question about 16MB 72pin 60ns SIMM £13 [0091]

I think you're working on the assumption that I have 100s of identical simms, which isn't the case. They are simms which are tested and proven to work on the Falcon. Beyond that, they could be anything. I will look at a few to see if they have the numbers you suggest, but you might have to take to a...

Re: DFB1 Support thread

I don't think maprom was ever intended for TOS404. It was built with the TF536 in mind.

Re: Stuff and Things.

The weird thing that I've found is there are some areas where the board is baked, and the solder has been cooked and turned into a grainy mess that is really hard to clean up. These boards I used to work on (Bellfruit scorpion 1 MPU) used to be a bugger for that. Saw this image on the net. You can ...

Re: Stuff and Things.

Looks like that TO220 needs a bigger heatsink ? Assume that's why the PCB is burning.

Re: exxos blog - random goings on

I’m not sure if a “benchmark” on a multi-tasking system which doesn’t have control over the scheduler is very valid as it would depend upon what other tasks are running as to how many time slices the benchmarking software will get. Also, if the other gals are doing I/O the benchmark will get suspen...
