Re: POWER CONNECTORS
I personally dislike the whole idea of STF remake, but I guess adding an ATX connector (possibly with angular header) to use pico-PSU modules would be a very useful solution. Power output connectors on motherboard are obsolete then, as Pico-PSU has a cable to connect FDD power.

Re: Logic Analyser on the Cheap
Recently I was trying to diagnose my... diagnostic cart with a Logic Analyzer (Logic-8 clone). I did it, but not in the way I'd like to. All lines were looking legit on the LA software, but I realized that, with probes connected, cart behaves differently. So I started disconnecting the probes, one b...

Re: Lead-free soldering
I find lead free solder fine for a new stuff, but not for repairing old one. I would't care about inhaling lead, as it almost doesn't vapor during soldering. What is really toxic are the vapors of flux. I'm using Sn60Pb40 with SW26 flux and lead free Sn99Cu0.7Ag0.3 with 1.1.3 flux (1.1.3 a.k.a. SW-2...

Re: FOR SALE STF/E KEYBOARDS (UK)
I got keyboards form Chris. Some were very dirty, but all except one were working, yet most of them required re-soldering of a mouse port. It was a good buy. I've made some observation - one of these keyboards had a base frame with additional "bumps", yet all had the same PCB and all were ...

Re: Replacement PSU for STf/STe
I have found even a better one - Mean Well RD-50A. This is only +5V/+12V (without the -12V line) switchmode PSU. It's not on the photo, but I've already added the PE wire:

Re: 520ST small model w/ no floppy / general advice
AFAIK you can use a Gotek as an external drive, but I would suggest you ask around the forum to see if anybody else has done this with an original 520. I have Gotek (HxC USB) in the external enclosure, I tried it on the 520ST and it works fine. Using Gotek in Atari ST DD interface mode you can use ...

Re: Jan Beta Mega ST
Keyboard is not original, I've replaced the LEDs in it, because the case I had has the red filters in it (and green LED + red filter = no go) and actually the board and top case are probably an original pair (bottom part is not), but the original floppy is dead, and I got it without the keyboard (th...

Re: Jan Beta Mega ST
As I've promised - I've tried, and it fits: https://obrazki.elektroda.pl/9182226600_1541442719_thumb.jpg The unloaded 12V is slightly too high (over 13V), but I don't care as it is not used anywhere on the board (it is only for the FDD motor). It fits really tight, but without any modifications, but...

Re: Jan Beta Mega ST
If I've managed to fit RT-65B (but without it's case), so the smaller RD-50A should easily fit... I've already ordered it and I'll check this soon. I've ordered from a local distributor (TME.EU), and there was almost no difference in price with Aliexpress :/ I've paid ~20€ incl. VAT & PP. Quite ...
