Re: Fixing keyboard mylar sheet/keys

That carbon pen sounds like a good product, and I need to get myself one myself :) Being outside of the UK the challenge is finding a plce to buy it without it costing too much with all the import duties and stuff. I see that it's available from several of the big electronic component dealers, so on...

Re: Fixing keyboard mylar sheet/keys

How did you find it to be crap? Did it dry up/fall off or not work at all? I'm guessing that the special thing about "Keypad fix" is that it sticks to rubber and is flexible unlike the other types of conductive material. Good stuff. I just ordered a "Keypad fix" after finally fi...

Re: Fixing keyboard mylar sheet/keys

@Pacman I used the pen to fix the tracks. When my mylar sheet/keyboard was made a crease was added in that caused a resistive effect in the metal trace, which heated up and failed. I also found a 2nd problem that looked the same further down the same trace. Not the best quality control back in thos...

Re: Fixing keyboard mylar sheet/keys

pink bag looks like one of the kits I used to sell a long time ago, I don't ever remember selling it in a syringe. as it says "wire glue" it is for repairing carbon tracks on keyboards. Keypad fix is for fixing the carbon conductive part of the rubber keys.. You're right! I had ordered so...

Re: Fixing keyboard mylar sheet/keys

I just found a few things which might be suitable for fixing it. Please feel free to comment so I don't end up using the wrong products. Anders products Wire Glue (and a projects page ) It says "Micro-carbon based" on the jar and apparently suitable for electronic repairs. Wire Glue Pack.g...

Fixing keyboard mylar sheet/keys

I've located a broken trace to my Mega STe keyboard causing the spacebar not to work. And the "help" key isn't working all the time. I used the keyboard test from the diagnostic cartridge to check all keys (it even checks the mouse!). Closer inspection reveals that the keys have a black ru...

Re: Mega STe 1.44 floppy behaviour and 1772/AJAX

What you say makes sense of course.
I'll have to check with the STe once I get this Mega STe fully working and set up again.

Re: Mega STe 1.44 floppy behaviour and 1772/AJAX

Thanks for checking. I'll just keep the drive unmodified then (except the DS1 jumper of course) as it appears to be working as intended. As for others STs: I'm sure I've experienced that with my STe (TOS 2.06) the floppy drive won't spin a second time if I press ESC, but only does this if I eject th...

Re: Mega STe 1.44 floppy behaviour and 1772/AJAX

OK, thanks.

And the media change -is it normal for the MSTE to read the floppy again (start the motor) every time you press ESC, with the same floppy disk?

Re: Mega STe 1.44 floppy behaviour and 1772/AJAX

Yes, I see you're quite right about the AJAX in the Atari 1.44MB upgrade manual, Rubber_Jonnie. Probably a safeguard against overheating in case HD floppies are used a lot. As I have two Sony MPF-920 drives which have both been "Atari modified" but won't work in my STe ("Data in drive...
