TT Rom access speedup

Hello, So far I've tried this sucessfully on 3 different TT machines and it works well. It only takes two diodes, Germanium or Schottky (Bat 48). Connect the anode of one diode to XDS0 and a second diode to XDS1. These signals can be found on the ST-Ram board pins 15 and 16 of the C row, connector t...

Re: Internal Gotek/FlashFloppy and external disk drive

Hello, An Internal floppy is selected on wire 10, that's connected to DS0 select from the Atari. The external connector is connected to the second floppy select from the Atari. To use the internal cable, the D1 line from the Atari should be connected to wire 12 in the flat cable. Then a drive set as...

Re: 030 exxos RTC issues.

Hello, Some time ago, I've replaced the RTC on a number of Falcons. With the old RTC they still worked, also after I put a socket in the board. However, with the new RTC-chip, they wouldn't boot, the chips being new and from Mouser. To remidy the situation, I put the old RTC back and booted the Falc...

Re: competent repair people ?

Hello Sam, In my opinion, recapping is as complicated as replacing the wheel on a car if you have a flat. Meaning that every tech who can wield a soldering iron and can recognise the parts will do. Most "Radio Ham's " will be able to do the job. And they are "all over the world" ...

Future PSU designs

Hello Exxos, If I see it right, there's 3 primary windings needed. Or maybe it can be done with 2. 3 windings: 115V, 115V and 10V. All series = 240V, 2 x 115V series for 230V, 2 x 115V parallel, obvious. Or maybe you can get away with 2 windings of 120V. Now if you have those windings made such that...

Re: MegaST 4 will not boot, but looks fine with diagnostics

Finally, I found some courage and inpiration.
And solved the problem.
Jumper W2 had a bad contact.
But it was hidden below the body of the part.
So there was no or a bad connection from the decoding chip to the Eprom.
The board works fine again.

Re: MegaST 4 will not boot, but looks fine with diagnostics

Have replaced the sockets, now two quality sockets with round contacts are in.
Still with these it doesn't work either. :(

However it was a very good idea. :)

Re: MegaST 4 will not boot, but looks fine with diagnostics

Hello, The working one has 120nS Eproms. I have yet not tested with faster 29F010 Flash, 90nS. Will do that as well. Of course this card has a Gal. 16V8 25LNC. I have tested with 6 Eproms, Tos 1.04NL in 200nS Eproms. Not ok. Then I took Tos 1.04UK in 6 Eproms 100nS. Also not ok. (Yes, I changed W2- ...

Re: MegaST 4 will not boot, but looks fine with diagnostics

Hello, Ram test keeps working just fine. As does the floppy test. Replacing the CPU has not helped, and removing the blitter is not a solution. I've replaced MCU, Glue, DMA, Floppy controller and Blitter. Using the two-tosses (Exxos) also doesn't work. And the Shifter buffer doesn't help either. The...
