Re: ACORN A5000 inbound

@rubber_jonnie I will definitely check all that. I guess the mouse is another problem. Its a Logitech M-PG15 as I wrote earlier, but was not made for Acorn, so the pinout maybe different. A cable (or a rewire) from CJE would surely do the trick. https://www.ebay.com/itm/185652872744?hash=item2b39c6...

Re: ACORN A5000 inbound

Hmm, there are more issues than expected with the A5000... - Sometimes boot directly to RiscOS desktop, but sometimes it's just a black screen with a blinking cursor. A reset or a power off/power on often solves this issue. - Only 1 MB of RAM is recognized, but the machine has 2 MB onboard and 2 ex...

Re: The rise of FreHD

Ok, so the instability seems to be power related, so I'm going to have a look at my bench PSU cables as it seems to need the voltage turned up a little at the PSU to get a solid 5v to the QI. It seems the cables are the issue so that I can fix, but for now it works. It also seems like the QI needs a...

Re: The rise of FreHD

So, the floppy board plugs into the expansion connector directly? It's not floppy, it's a hard drive, but essentially, yes. The QI plugs into the TRS-80 expansion port and behaves a bit like a EI, so an extra 32KB of RAM and what's needed to boot from the hard drive. It's been mega unstable, so I n...

It is an ATAPI device not a ATA and so there would need to be ATAPI drivers for internal IDE controller. Maybe with Wizzo IDEFS ROM?
Good point. I haven't played with the Wizzo ROM as yet.

Seems the RAM side is working, but the expansion connector is a bit iffy, so I need to clean it.

Re: A5000 - diving in at the deep end!

Well the Samba server for RiscOS needs 8MB apparently, so not happening on my A5000. You said this before and I said you don't need the server you need the client. Glad you've got something that works. I've tried both server and client and neither work, hence the shift to try NFS instead. It was th...

Re: A5000 - diving in at the deep end!

I imagine that your SAMBA issues are something similar Well the Samba server for RiscOS needs 8MB apparently, so not happening on my A5000. As for LanMan98, there is something more fundamental failing as the initial TCP setup isn't working, so it never gets to try authentication. I can live without...
