Re: V2.5 BOOSTER CURRENT PROTOTYPE STATUS

Even so, there is no 64 MHz clock anyway, so using a PLL is the only way to easily do this. And it will also be a correct multiple of 8.01/8.02/8.05 instead of the 64.000MHz oscillator that I bought and used for the double-speed Shifter mod. The PLL-method definitely sounds like the way to go. /Troed

Re: Project: HDMI/DVI out for STFM

[*]On a real ST, does Spectrum 512 show a bunch of colours in the screen border area when it's just displaying the image? In Steem SSE, it does if you enable a wake state, but not if you set it to "ignore". I always see colours in the border with my setup. I think testing with Hatari instead of STE...

Re: MegaST 4 will not boot, but looks fine with diagnostics

In my experience for some reason some of the first chips to suddenly die in an ST are the TOS chips. I've had more than one "white blank screen" ST where I just replaced TOS and that was it.

The diag cart only needs a tiny part of TOS to be read correctly to execute.

Re: Hard disk storage media

I've used Alan H's Unicorn (ACSI USB interface) as the main hard drive in my souped up development STE for years now. I do agree it seems slower than other HD solutions, some HD only demos have failed to run, but it's plenty fast for day to day usage IMHO. Since I've made a completely internal solut...

Re: MODIFY SONY MPF920 DRIVE FOR ATARI USE

I suppose a little slower? but so what.. never an issue with wrong write. I don't understand what you are referring to here..... ? AFAIK your media change fix indicates media change whenever the drive motor has stopped. That's not the same as what original Atari drives do, so I would also expect "s...

Re: Fixing up my MEGA STE

What you/we was talking about was "media change fix". Which isn't required to get the drive working. It is recommended to do yes, required, no. As for the Sony drive, and indeed other drives, you have to change the drive ID to zero to work on Atari internally. I use the MPF920 as its easy to change...

I believe I have Sony drives from 1998, 1999 etc working. I'll post this as a reminder to myself to verify and get back to the topic.

Re: Project: HDMI/DVI out for STFM

Emulating the Shifter is not _that_ easy. Yes, the Shifter does "reset" in strange and mysterious ways. Ijor is the one that has the best knowledge of this, but it's correct that in many cases words are "left over" in the internal registers and carry over to not just the next scanline but also next ...
