This current Falcon I am fixing as a Motorola RTC. I have not actually seen one of these before.. And a little more annoying to the solder than the Dallas ones.

This one I cut around the edges near the bottom to take off the plastic..

all the pins were cut as normal...

Then next job is branching onto the normal desoldering which I already videoed..

As a side note, chip does seem to have a plastic cover of course, and it just seems to be hot snotted into place. It could be possible to remove the top cover as a whole without breaking it.. But I did not want to risk it and did not want to end up trying to leaver the top off and risk damaging the motherboard.

It actually is possible to remove the cover as a whole.
At least if you desolder the chip before and put a screwdriver from the bottom between the cover and the chip. ;)
