FSALE: STFM w/ 1mb RAM / Re-capped Video&PSU / Floppy serviced

Post by Steve »

Hi all,

I recently finished refurbishing a nice STfm machine.
(Located in UK)

Specifications:
* C070789-001 Rev C Motherboard (UK keyboard, UK 240v PSU)
* TOS 1.02
* 1MB RAM (Enough to play almost every game ever produced)
* Fully cleaned & re-capped DSP-508a PSU
* Fully cleaned & serviced floppy drive
* Re-capped entire video circuitry & shifter capacitors
* Casing fully dismantled & washed in HOT soapy water & detol disinfectant
* Keyboard also fully dismantled & washed as above, plus PCB & ports serviced/cleaned
* Old floppy cable removed & new IDC header installed

Only thing that isn't perfect is the floppy case-hole, which has been cut-out to accept regular sized drives. Although this is fitted with an Atari original Epson drive (which runs really nice, quiet and reliable) But at least you can easily install a Gotek if you want, the hole is quite neat.

Extensively tested for hours using Diagnostic cartridge, floppy drive exerciser, gembench & Frontier loop.

Asking: £150 & £10 postage (locally)

Please confirm interest in forum post before pm'ing me,
cheers,

If anyone is interested I just want this gone now so I'll accept £100 here on the forum. Damn good price for a machine with serviced PSU, Video and Floppy! Let me know.

Maybe Facebook or evilbay is the the better way to advertised serviced machines ?

Yeah got it on the Evilsbay, but with their 10% charge and also the high likelihood of some idiot buying it and giving me grief (happens a lot) I'd rather not sell it cheap there. Also Facebook is full of 1st-timers so I'm reluctant there too.

UPDATE 18/03/22:

Back up on ebay: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/284698749160

I've updated/added the following to the machine to make it more interesting:
* Added Exxos TOS switcher & switch on side, tos 1.04 & emutos 1.1.1 included
* Replaced the original drive with a brand new sony MFP drive which has a nicer bezel
* Also re-capped the main 4700uf capacitor and 1000uf capacitors on the mainboard.
(new photos on ebay)

Will do a deal with anyone on the forum, make me an offer.

ps it *really* is a lovely STfm, great video output quality, awesome floppy speed and performance, runs like a beauty.

I am interested (especially due to the TOS 1.04), if you are willing to ship to Belgium?
What would the shipping cost be?

EDIT:
I thought the original rive was serviced and working perfectly.
Why the need of replacing the it with a sony?

Because the bezel was more suitable to the square-hole in the case, the original has an 'internal' bezel which didn't look so good. But I don't mind, if you want the original drive I can put it back.

I'll check shipping costs to Belgium and let you know, be patient this weekend I'm going away so won't be able to speak much till next week.

Sorry about the typos and bad editing in my previous post.

If it isn't too much trouble I'd prefer the original floppy drive over the new Sony.
Eventually I plan to find a new STFM case to replace the current one, prepared for a gotek.

Have you checked and tested the parallel port?
I had purchased a PARCP-USB for my original 520STFM from late 80s, but I cannot get it to work. Apparently something wrong with the parallel port.
Last time I used the printer port it was about 30 years ago with an Epson <something> printer (LX-80 ?).

Unfortunately, I haven't managed to find that printer in the storage room.
I know, it's not something small, which you can simply overlook. Still ... unable to find it.
It must be hiding together with the 2 (or 3, cannot remember) external 5.25" floppy drives I had won at an auction back then.

Over the years I managed to not lose any of the small pendrives/USB-keys, but a large an heavy vintage printer just found a way to become invisible.

Sorry I don't posses a way to test parallel ports. For file transfers I use the cartridge port (Netusbee)
