Thought of the day..

Considering I have had this thing the like 2+ years and hardly used it, and in fact not even finished calibrating it all yet..

Problem really was space, only have a tiny little table is mostly taken up with the motherboard, and of course the floor is mostly taken up with bits of motherboards... I've never had anywhere to set this up long enough in order to actually use it..

It is a little high up there, but I will probably make the shelf shorter, and drop the printer down to the first shelf.. Then it gives me some extra height to work out the spool mounting etc..

This way I have more time to finish setting it up as I can to simply leave it on the shelf indefinitely.. And just fiddle with the software and setting up when I have a few spare minutes here and there..

Check out https://octoprint.org when you get a chance.

I've got my 3d printer set up with a Raspberry Pi running Octoprint and it makes it so much easier to use and monitor. Especially if you connect a camera to the Pi.

This ^

I also have setup my DNS and firewall/router so that I can access Octoprint anywhere in the world. In addition I have the AstroPrint plugin that allows me to use OctoPi as an AstroPrint printer. Pretty cool stuff.

As everyone "moaned" about it on the shelf...

Can keep a better eye on it there.. plus I need to "hang" the filament spool somewhere, so the bottom of the shelf above it will probably work fine for that now :)
