Its a bit odd as the ABS seems to be more consistent with the print than the PLA.

Definitely a lot of wasted plastic doing these things...

Did you print pla with abs?

It's worth checking filament temps as some manufacturers differ slightly. I use Sunlu filament at 190C for Pla. Also to get rid of some of the stringyness you could try increasing the retraction slightly.

Unfortunately it's all trial and error but you'll be better off with that as a good starting point.

P.s. brims are good to use to get the filament flowing before starting the main print.

Both , its a dual head, so one side is PLA, the other ABS.

I think doing a print with mixed material types is asking for a lot of trouble due to the rather different properties of both of them.

I started with brims, then went to skirt, as brim seems to use a lot of extra plastic, but the skirt seems definitely less effective than the brim for getting filament flowing, and I am considering going back to brim.

Been printing out small squares (troed was kind enough to do a dummy square for me a few weeks back) so giving that a try with ABS (asking for pain I know).

The bed was at 105c, head at 120c (default settings)... The corners started to lift up off the bed about halfway through the print..

So I upped the bed to 130c (max it would go) and 130c head temp.. I could see after just three layers was lifting up badly, so this made the problem considerably worse..

So reverse logic, the head still at 130c, but now the bed is at 70c.

I will try a lower temperature for the bed and see what happens...

I also put a torch on a test cube I did today, you can see the honeycomb pattern and it looks like a huge dotmatrix display

So the lower bed temp worked better then?

This one seems absolutely fine as well.. A right feker to get it off the bed though... Had to preheat the bed to 100c to soften it a bit to get it off!

I think the filament temperature is too high as it slighty struggles to print the top layer. I also seem to have a odd horizontal band near the middle as well..

So I will increase the retraction a bit and decrease the head temperature next...
