Back to Atari; finally!

Post by Maeke » Sun Nov 18, 2018 2:38 pm

Two years ago i had to put the restoration of my ste and my stf on hold due to an injury in the neck which gave me heavy vertigos.
Still have some light vertigos sometimes, but i can finally use my soldering iron again.

So first thing i had to do is try the oled for my gotek, and while i was at it i discovered a color issue on my stf, have to check the scart.
I off course upgraded the hxc firmware of the goltek for it to accept the oled screen.
Was a bit worried about the 0.96 oled since a corner of the glass (outside of the screen itself) is broken, so i also have a 0.91 oled.

Now, need to wire the rotary encoder and test it (i had to resolder it right after unboxing), find the reason of the color issue, and i'll start working again on the booster installation on my ste. But not today, have to take care of my health.

I'll also have to find a new top for the stf.

These may be of interest from a Gotek point of view: https://www.thingiverse.com/search?q=go ... 19ecbc7038

Well i've already tried some of them (and some others); but i found nothing usable for my rotary encoder AND my oled (even the smaller one), since i want them to be in an external case.

Ok... Two days of struggle on a KY-040 module for my gotek, before i realised that when i received it, i had to resolder it and i had only 2 of the 3 pull-ups of the pcb, so i unsoldered the encoder from the pcb and soldered directly following this

now my encoder finally works, next step, installing the gotek in it's new 3d printed case, the encoder will be in the drive and the oled screen will be external (didn't find a fitting external case yet for both and i'm still not yet a rookie in designing myself) .
