Ok... Two days of struggle on a KY-040 module for my gotek, before i realised that when i received it, i had to resolder it and i had only 2 of the 3 pull-ups of the pcb, so i unsoldered the encoder from the pcb and soldered directly following this
rotsel-direct.png

now my encoder finally works, next step, installing the gotek in it's new 3d printed case, the encoder will be in the drive and the oled screen will be external (didn't find a fitting external case yet for both and i'm still not yet a rookie in designing myself) .
Nice work! I haven't installed a rotary encoder because I only tend to assign a handful of slots. But if you assign a lot of disks, it certainly would be useful.

By the way, did you apply the disk change fix?

I've upgraded the hxc firmware and the software to the latest versions.
If i take too long to reply, sorry my cat is sleeping on my laps.

What I meant is the hardware fix that involves triggering the protect pin on the connector when switching image using the buttons (or rotary encoder) using diodes. This is because Atari didn't implement the disk change line to save costs (and save, what, $0.001?).

I soldered the diodes to the bottom side of the pcb though.

Ah you meant this! http://www.tonmann.com/wordpress/wp-con ... y_mod2.png
no i don't have the diodes yet, i don't know what diodes to buy.

Yes indeed, although I'm not sure whether that'll cover the rotary encoder.

Any regular Schottky diode should do, like the BAT85 I used.

According to my knowledge the disk change fix is not required for current HxC firmwares. Also - having OLED and rotary encoder, there is no need to use slots (nor the fileselector loader) anymore, you directly chose a disk image file.

was indead wondering about the fileselector. And for the cfg?
Btw i need to make an internal/external mode on both computers now.

You just put an HXCSDFE.CFG for the Normal Mode in the root directory of your USB drive. You may modify settings in this file by loading it into HxCFloppyEmulator.exe (SD HxC Floppy Emulator Settings _not_ USB HxC) and modifying it. Some of the settings you may override in the OLED menu (press and hold both navi keys or encoder key, when no USB drive is connected).
