Worst ST's ever?

Post by PhilC » Tue Dec 18, 2018 10:14 pm

I can't believe that someone is trying to sell these 3 ST's on eBay. surely they would have been better to at least clean them first? look like they've been in the bottom of a skip for a while.

Wow, they are nasty!

What gets me (Other than the uncleaned battered state they are in) is the price. £60 is way over the top, even for x3 in that condition.

Oh yeah, and the nochalance of the statement "has some scuffs cracks broken here and there as you can see".

I mean really!
Collector of old Atari things:
800XL + Ape Warp mod, 2x 1010 cassette, 1050 + Happy mod, 65XE (128k) & XC12, SIO2SD, 2600jr, 7800 and Lynx II
Atari 520ST (1Meg) + Gotek, 1040STFM + Vortex ATOnce + Gotek, 1040STF long button floppy, 4160 STE with Gotek and ROM switcher, 4160STE with 32Mhz booster, ROM switcher and CosmosEx, not to mention various bare ST boards for testing including a PAK 68/2 :)
Plus the rest..
Amiga stuff, Mac stuff, Sinclair stuff etc...

Madness... Though I wouldn't be surprised if someone brought them.

ST's go for silly money these days, I mean years ago, could get a decent ST for next to nothing. Now lucky to get a scrap machine for £60+ these days. I brought a lot of "scrapper" ST's for £50+ a pop years ago, with the intention to strip and sell for spares. But could hardly even get money back doing that. Half the floppy drives would be smashed or simply didn't work, smashed cases etc. I just stopped buying them in the end.

Those are pretty grungy. A year ago you'd see a tt and a couple falcons a month. Both for 700-1250 depending. Now theres nothing but a falcon for 2500 which is ridiculous. Theres a lot more atari equip available in Europe than here in the states.

You should see the seller’s other items. Seems to have lots of 3 of BBCs, C64 and many others all in similar grubby states.

Makes you wonder where they were found / stored.

I thought that was the other way around? Up until the ST's anyway?
I think theirs more 8 bit Atari stuff in USA than ST stuff, and more ST stuff than 8 bit stuff here.

Just seems when ever I want something its always in USA

I think your right. There is a lot of eight bit stuff here but STE's, MSTE, TT, and falcons are rare as hens teeth. I've been look for a tt or falcon for a long time and just not available. An when does show they are really expensive.

Same with me. Like some people thought I was mad making simms. When loads in USA, but not in UK. Shipping lots to UK with all the costs is to expensive. Its OK to get the odd set here and there, but try finding 400 of them..

One is an STE but even at £60+p&p would make it an expensive bitter, if it worked.

Just bought two STFM's for 60 including p&p, one for spares, one for the collection :-)
