NVIDIA colours resetting after boot

Post by exxos » Fri May 24, 2019 7:15 pm

Long shot, but anyone had the issues where you can set the colours in the NVIDIA control panel (and works) but after reboot it goes back to "defaults" ? I tried every guide on the net pretty much.. This never used to happen until I updated the graphics drivers at some point recently.. I could only find drivers 6 months old on NVIDA site (those do the same as well)
4MB STFM 1.44 FD- VELOCE+ 020 STE - 4MB STE 32MHz - STFM 16MHz - STM - MEGA ST - Falcon 030 CT60 - Atari 2600 - Atari 7800 - Gigafile - SD Floppy Emulator - PeST - HxC - CosmosEx - Ultrasatan - various clutter

Corrupt registry entry maybe?
Intro retro computers since before they were retro...
ZX81->Spectrum->Memotech MTX->Sinclair QL->520STM->BBC Micro->TT030->PCs & Sun Workstations.
Added code to the MiNT kernel (still there the last time I checked) + put together MiNTOS.
Collection now with added Macs, Amigas, Suns and Acorns.

So I used this...

https://www.guru3d.com/files-get/displa ... ad,20.html

To uninstall the drivers.. but the problem remained after reinstall.

Last night I started putting my settings back to how I thought they were originally... but checked on my girlfriends PC as to what settings were there...

Other guides tell you to put the device profile to sRGB.. but there's multiple "versions" of it. I think the ones I selected before might have been the cause.

I also have this disabled as other guides mention.. but changing all these settings around in various guides did nothing originally..

One guide claims its a admin permissions problem, so I gave the nvidia CP admin rights, but no change again. I basically did everything I could find online and nothing worked.

Reinstalling the drivers did nothing ( I could only go back 6 months on nvidia site to install older drivers) , I put back the settings as above.. rebooted.. still had colour resetting issues... went to sleep last night, booted up this morning, and colours have finally stuck!

Considering I never had these issues until recently, (only after a update driver install) I think it could well be the drivers needed a clean install. I suspect messing with all other other settings just confused things..

Lesson learned ( well probably not) , if its not broke, don't fit it! Don't update drivers unless you actually have a issue! I only update like once a year just in case windoze updates screw something up at some point..

So will see how it goes over the next few days...

EDIT:

OK I rebooted to try and colours reset again   :WTF:

Try uninstalling the nVidia drivers and then run regedit.

Delete the following key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\NVIDIA Corporation
Then re-install the driver.
