A space odyssey film missing scene ?

A long short.. but I was sure in that film there was a 7 minute long scene where a guy in a space suit was drifting into space.. his breathing got slower and slower... and at the time a site said it was proving a point that humans should not be in space and it was like a "fish out of water".. Odyssey is the only film I thought be slow enough to have that scene.. and yet it doesn't seem to be in the film.. So either its be cut from history, or there is some other film I am thinking of with that in it ?! Because its been so long since I saw odyssey last time, I can't remember if the guy got rescued (in the film he did) but I half recall he floated off and that was it..

No idea, I thought you was on about the ST game Wreckers where that happens
Also searching for what you wrote.... bought me right back here... I was hoping it would hit something out there

No one else got anything yet? this is odd thought someone on here might know. The amount of weird info that goes around here

There's a fave of mine Silent Running at the end the sphere the plants are growing in drift off with a robot gardner in there.

I already tried loads of searches, it was some site years ago waffling on about it being the longest scene in the film and it lasting 7minutes. Site probably long gone. girlfriend doesn't believe me theres a bit missing out of the film.. this is after I said theres 10mins missing out of the film "safe house"... thats after I said the camera shots on the end of one of the start trek films is all wrong.. she thinks I am going nuts.. very hard to prove otherwise since most of this stuff was, well, on VHS and long gone

I could be confusing the scene with another film.. but really.. what other film out there is going to have 7minutes of a bloke floating off into space...

This is the point in the film.. about 1:30...

But the guy floating off there was a close up on his face the entire time of his breathing getting slower because he was out of oxygen... I must be confusing 2 films, but I can't find any real film with anything similar in.. theres a top 18 space death scenes on google somewhere, dont think its any of them either.

I thought I was the only one who seen it

As for floating off and dying in space, what the chances years of lead solder abuse caused mild brain misfires?

Bugging me now I been Googling all night, there's a bit in Armageddon where one gets left behind but his not floating off.
There's another film Space CowBoys, im sure it was Tommy Lee Jones and he gets left on moon and dies like that?

Prob more :)

I don't think any other film would have such a long scene of basically nothing. I mean it must have been a hour before anyone said anything in the film, its that slow

No, can't be this film. There were 5 persons on board, Dave and Frank conscious and three more in stasis. Frank was killed first by HAL, who cut his oxygen supply. Dave went after him, but only recovered him dead. Frank died in space, but quite quickly. While Dave was outside, HAL killed the three others in hibernation by disabling their pods. Dave returned to the ship disabled HAL an went on to Jupiter.

So at least in this one, no overly long space death, I am afraid :)

I don't remember if the guy just floated off and that was it, or was rescued.. I just can't think of any other film which would have such a scene because of how slow it progresses.

But one thing which may support a different film, was that I remember the "review" saying it was like a "fish out of water", aka, humans shouldn't be in space. Though in odyssey, they say "all these planets are yours", so it doesn't exactly tally which what I remember to the plot of the film.

Either way, there must be some other slow film, and its not in odyssey 2010 either :) albeit, that actually flowed a lot faster.
