Accounts on exxos store ?

Post by exxos » Sat Aug 31, 2019 8:43 am

Just a idea which popped in my head..

I hate forcing people to register to buy from my store, so I simply allow checkout without having to register. Though , those who do repeat orders (albeit not many) would benefit to register as all the info will be filled in automatically. Not a big deal either way anyway.

There has been a few people who suggested taking a "account" where people can put in say £20 a month until they build up enough funds to buy all they want (seems people can't save up themselves   )

There wouldn't be any credit card info stored, and no repeat or subscription payments. People would just enter a amount to "fund" their account and it would simply be stored and used when people want to buy items.

Thoughts ? Opinions ?

I'd be carefull with this. I am in no way an expert, but if you handle funds for others you might end up being a bank. This would have all sorts of implications, so before doing so, you should do a lot of research and maybe ask a lawyer.

I guess it is another thing to handle incomplete payments to a certain degree. So if someone orders something, he could choose to make several smaller payments until the payments are sufficient. But I wonder if this is really worth the hassle... As you say, they can always safe up themselves, maybe even by transferring funds to their credit card account.

I agree with IngoQ it would be a big hassle and the legal side of things is a minefield. Better off allowing people to save using their own methods.

I've found accounts put people off, there too lazy to keep entering there details over and over again it seems
Since most people just let something like PayPal/NoChex/WorldPay do the checkout payment for them, totally skipping the sign up bit at the actual site.

You might get away with it, since its not like they can just go another store and find a ST part is it

Only use a credit card due to its protections. Also I generate a one time use credit card number in which I set its limit. I have no use for a debit card. No need for Exxos to generate a saving account for me.

The best way to deal with any online hassle I found, spend on it then pay it of right away, basically free insurance :D

I posted some info here on virtual cards this morning :

Might help some people :)
