Got bored last night so had a go on Gauntlet, one of my favorite games, I requested this instead of a stag party before my wedding

Might have to get a proper copy the controls on that web based ver are tad wonky :D

So does anyone else have that 1 game that means something to them? tied to a event? a time? a place?

I mean movies and music can trigger memoirs so I guess games can :D

I didn't have many games back in the day :( Games were expensive and times were hard..

I always liked Starquake, Chuck rock, supercars 2,Volfield, Castle master...All very unique games in their own right.

God, so many and a lot of them from 8 Bit Ataris, such as Ballblazer, Rescue on Fractalus, Koronis Rift etc.

If it was the ST though, Gauntlet would be high up there because a friend and I managed to loop back to the beginning one weekend by using a 4 player adaptor and flicking between players each time we died. It was epic.

Definitely Xenon I from The Bitmap Brothers. I used to play it as a 11 year old using a colour-emulator on my SM124 mono monitor. A terrible experience (very slow and the graphics were squeezed horizontally by 50%) but boy was I excited.
Later, when I got a colour screen, I became even more excited by the game because it's simply EXCELLENT! :cheer:

For me its Elite and Zalaga on the BBC Micro as it reminds me of the fun teenage years before I had a care in the world.

Rescue on Fractalus, Alternate Reality, Star Raiders, Pole Position, The Last Starfighter, Spy Hunter, Seven Cities of Gold, Moon Patrol.... they just amazed me. I guess I'm showing my age.
I was in my twenties when I got an ST and it was pretty extraordinary. Millennium 2.2, Sim City and Civilization held me captive for hours.

On my Atari 130XE it was Gyrus... played it for hours and hours... Rescue on Fractalus was also great. And my alltime-allmachine favorite: Arkanoid.

On the ST I got hooked on Carrier Command. Never was good on the strategic part, but I loved this open world feeling, and would just explore and experiment, until the other side won :-D

Dungeon Master

Ultima (3, 4, 5)

The Bards Tale

Back in the mid to late 80's I was single and had just built a small
A-Frame house. My father, who worked a very early shift at the
time, would drive by about 3am, on his way to work. He'd see me
through the window, banging away on the keyboard of my ST,
playing these games.

He wanted to know what in the world (besides a girl) could keep
me up that late at night. :)
