I am lucky I didn't need a Videl or Combel for my Falcon!!! OMG at those prices, it makes me sick!

If he has so many, why not offer them out at a reasonable price (eg. £50 per chip or something). If he did that maybe someone would re-create the Falcon (as happened with the ST), and then he could end up selling most if not all of his stock. It is just sheer greed!

EDIT: Sorry, just read Chris's post and seen he said more or less the same thing. That's why I dislike dealing with Best Electronics - it's like trying to get blood out of a stone. He wants to reduce his prices massively and watch things start flying off the shelf.

Its completely ridiculous and has a knock on effect with everyone else.

I recently posted on here as I needed a 56001 DSP. I managed to get one here in the UK, but it still cost me £90!

It was either that, or pay £100 and wait for a month from Best... and thats if I didnt upset him ordering it.

And I dont think Ebay auctions of Falcons for £2-3k will convince Brad to bring the prices down.

Such a shame theres people sitting on this stuff like a dragon guarding its gold.

So basically it's a case of super supply and no demand?

Well there is a demand it's just not the 100s of people he expecting, they will sell at such a slow rate, they use up more cost in storage then he will ever get back :/

Is there even enough Falcons and people will willing to repair them left to use all them chips up???
I think most people will just give up and leave the thing in storage somewhere.

I think the only way that warehouse is going to get emptied before he actually dies is for someone who he gets on with to actually ask how much he would let it all go for.

After the figure has been agreed apon, we start a kickstart/fundraiser campaign and see how much we can raise.

But you can Imagine what the funding goals are going to be:

$10k - NO!

$50k - No.

$100k - Still no.

$500k - You get a free sticker and out gratitude, but STILL no.

$1M - You can take the stuff, but he wont be happy about it. In his opinion youve short-changed him.

What's that old saying something like :

"Something is only worth what someone will pay for it?" or 2 people or something I don't remember

His priced himself to a eternity of sitting on the stuff.

Makes you wonder how much he got that lot for way back? if he needs to sit on it to recoup the costs surely his losing more by now? the markets been and gone

If he REALLY does have the parts, you would think he would want to sell them?

The best way he could increase the value of his equity would be to co-fund the development of a replacement Falcon030 motherboard? One sure-fire way to sell them all?

If you have been following reAmiga/A4000TX/A3000++ the worlds supply of Amiga chips (which lay dormant and almost unsaleable for years) have earned their owners a few $$$ over the last few years. Stocks around the world are pretty much gone now.

The price of CIA and one of the A1200 custom chips (Alice?) is now 2x or even 3x what it was last year.

Yeah, a similar thing has happened with the C64 SID chips being poached.

The number of machines out there missing their sound IC is quite high now.
