Looks like when it arrives it'll be a great internal upgrade/accelerator for the ST, though definitely not cycle accurate.

Basically, by default 68000 compatible but faster. With specific firmware it'll add up to 1GB of Fast RAM. Can be set up emulate 68030, with or with out the MMU, and a 68882 if necessary.
Intro retro computers since before they were retro...
ZX81->Spectrum->Memotech MTX->Sinclair QL->520STM->BBC Micro->TT030->PCs & Sun Workstations.
Added code to the MiNT kernel (still there the last time I checked) + put together MiNTOS.
Collection now with added Macs, Amigas, Suns and Acorns.

Certainly will be a revelation for 68k computers if it works properly. I read about all the technology and it seems like it makes good sense.

512 will surely be enough. Great prices.

Reading the latest blog post, it looks the accelerator will need to be configured for EmuTOS and Atari-specific addressing.

If this can work on the H5 boards, it would be amazing!

Yes, it will need firmware tweaks, just like the TF536 does, but I get the hint that this may actually be simpler than on the TF, though I may be reading too much into that part of the blog.

One nice feature is that it can be set to 68030 mode with mmu. Hope the EmuTOS team gets ahold of one.

I wouldn't get my hopes too high, though, regarding how soon "coming soon" is; at least if you expect a working accelerator. I have only seen 3D renderings of the hardware, so I assume no actual prototype exists, yet. As @exxos will certainly confirm, the real work only starts when you're out of the 3D PCB rendering phase and into the "why does this first prototype not work" ;) phase.

Furthermore, at least judging from what's publically available in the GitHub repo, the work on the firmware has barely started. They're planning to develop a 68k CPU emulation (on the accelerators ARM CPU) from scratch - a massive undertaking that will take a lot of time. (Compare this to the PiStorm that uses the existing MUSASHI emulation.)

As far as EmuTOS support is concerned. Imho, it makes only sense to discuss when they have a working product, i.e., the 68k emulation is fully implemented and reasonably free of bugs. However, then - in case it does not work right out of the box - I can volunteer to make the necessary adaptations; assuming someone provides me with an accelerator (as a loan).

Indeed. The proof will be in the pudding.

Indeed. We don't even know if the bus grant stuff is in there yet. Plus if it is indeed 8 layers, its probably pushing £100+ for that alone, nevermind assembly and cost of other chips. So you can imagine I am rather skeptical of that suggested price point.
