When you have too many emails

Post by DrF » Thu Feb 22, 2018 9:46 am

Just a curious note that OutLook Express seems to start crashing when you have too many emails, I seem to have hit this limit with around 15,000 emails when it starts corrupting itself

I would never have thought this would be a issue :p

You still use Outlook Express!!!

You really should try a proper email client (In case Exxos hasn't responded yet)

I use Claws Mail on my laptop :

http://www.claws-mail.org/

Very basic, very fast :)

Outlook Express well its been there so long

When I looked at the database it was just over 2gb I presume this was what was making it crash it, as for every mail I deleted I could have 1 or a few more till hitting that limit again and all hell breaking loose. I'm guessing there's a size limit.

And I was right :

http://www.outlook-expressrecovery.com/ ... limit.html
https://www.wintips.org/fix-outlook-exp ... ive-email/

I would guess im the only person here who would even still have this issue

Exxos is gonna rant so bad.... so so bad

I have an Exchange 2013 server and Outlook/Office 2016, it's a good combo.

I use Windows Mail too for my Hotmail and Gmail accounts, works really nicely too.

You'd better run and hide, I think I hear exxos coming......

I did once try using The Bat and ThunderBird but I never really got on with them for some reason, I also recall a small technically problem was in the way at some point.

I take it you're running Linux? I quite like Evolution as a mail client.

A bit top heavy, like Outlook, but nice all the same.

Sadly not, due to work environment Windows XP, looking at replacing this system very soon we cant keep it alive much longer, it's already had 2 sets of caps, was looking at budget Xeon builds just last week.

Since that part of our work is all but dead it's sadly time to get something else :(

I use thunderbird 14, it imports outlook directly and works pretty much the same. Though I turned off updates, I use a couple of extensions, and basically abandonware stuff. I mean mozilla chuck out that many versions that nobody can keep up anymore  I stopped using firefox due to each time I loaded it had to wait like 10mins for it to update
