Hello

Post by TimNaber »

My first Atari was a 400, 1010 tape drive and two joysticks for $60. In 1985 that was a deal.
My first purchases after that were the SX212 modem, SDX and the spanking brand new 130XE.
Later when the Federated chain was going out of business, I bought an 800XL that was paired with an XF551 for $200.
I kicked around with that hard ware for a long while. It all got stored and taken out over these years several times.

Now in the 2010s, I got reinvigorated with retro computing. It started with the Intellivision and the Utopia game. I had the hardware, but for some reason my Utopia was missing. Got one. While the search for that happened, I was noticing Atari again.

I pulled all my equipment back out. I bought MyIDE ver 1 where there was an IDE connector on top of the cart. Upgraded, bought several systems, (now) you can see them in my signature.

I started collecting for the ST line only a few years ago (4-5?). The first purchase I made was for two Floppy drives that were really cheap. At the time I bought them I was on the fence about collecting, but made the purchase.

Almost 4 months later, I found 2 STFs for $150 on eBay and I could actually pick them up. I left the guys house with the following: 2 1040 STFs (1 4meg), 1 SF314, 1 SF354, 1 500 meg HD, 1 Link 2, Flight simulator and some other software. Some non-Atari stuff: a commodore 64; 4 brand new TI 99 4/a single sided disk drives for the drive unit.

When I arrived at his place one computer would not work and he gave $50 off. So all of that for $100. The one that did not work had the 4 meg upgrade. I took it apart and re-flowed all of the solder for the upgrade. BAMM! it worked.

Then over the years I collected all that you see in the signature. Falcon two year ago. TT this year. And I keep adding to it.

My computer room has 6-8 of them set up at all times.
ST: TT030 10/32m; Falcon 030 14m(2); MSTe 4m; MST 4m(3); MST 4m AdSpeed; 1040STf 4m(4); ST 4m(2); MF 44 w/SCSI2SD(3); MF 30(3); MF30 w/Drem

8-Bit: 320XE w/Ultraspeed+/FIXXL; 320XE; 130XE w/Ultimate 1m; 600XL w/Ultimate 1m; 800XL w/Omnimon XL/Boss XL/Omniview XL; 800 w/Incognito; 800 48K; Black Box Enhanced(3); 1050 Super Archiver II; 1050 Happy(2); XF551 360K(2); XF551 720K; HD Tower 480m

:welcomewave: :bravo:

Yeah, Collecting old computers seems to get addictive and normally exceeds available space

I'm happy with my 70+ machines, so good for a bit for now

My only available space for old computers is under my bed... I squeezed quite few there, but space is running out :(

Ha, I'd need a bunk bed at the mo the, not enough room under my bed. its where the missus keeps her shoes.
