Hello tony.reynolds and thank you for your welcome !

Apart from struggling now with the onboard FDD power connector, I have already installed:

a FDD 34 pin connector and connected a SMD-300 and a HxC
a 220/110V PSU
4MB RAM
jumpers for TOS ROMs
internal Ultra Satan
laser STE mouse

and my next planned upgrades are:

1.44 floppy upgrade kit
STE dual TOS kit
STE 32Mhz booster

The booster upgrade will take some time as my CPU is non socketed...

I like internal upgrades and I try to keep the original external appearance as much as possible.

That is a fun project!
Be careful with the traces/tracks on the board is they are old and will start to come off the board.
This is how I ruined an STE board. I will have to repair the board trace by trace!

Were did you get the laser mouse. Is it a modified atari st mouse with a laser kit inside
Also one modification I like is to socket the oscillator. I live in ntsc land and most of the equipment around here has the pal oscillator in them.

Yeah, the PCB is kinda weak... Especially the vias.

My old Oric Atmos is much older but the MB is really tough.

Tom
It's a ST mouse with a laser kit inside, bought from Amigastore.eu

My STE is a US model, so there's no problem here in Japan.

I have a ste and a mste that came from Europe. So they needed oscillators and tos. I just got one of the laser kits I just have to get the buttons to reach the switches
