SIMM Sockets

Post by yars »

I tried to put a 4mb ram upgrade in my 520STE at the weekend but was confronted by SIPPs and no SIMM sockets! So I'm having to fully dismantle and desolder the SIPPs

I've bought 4 SIMM sockets from exxos but wanted to know if it matters which way round they go?

Chances are that the sockets are keyed and will only fit one way, but on my STEs the SIMMs insert pointing back and rock forward to lock in place.

If in doubt there are some decent pictures of STE mainboards to be found here: https://www.exxosforum.co.uk/forum/viewforum.php?f=51

Thanks, I'll take some photos of the board before I install the sockets.

It'd be good if you could upload to the motherboard section, don't forget they can be full size there for detail.

Back up and running, what a job that was. In time for the new ultrasatan! Backing up all my old Cubase song files from floppy disks. It's funny seeing all the hard drives on the desktop, that would have been a fantasy back in 1994.
