Weird memory issues

Post by philbo34 »

In an attempt to save my sanity .
Yesterday I plugged the diag cartridge into 1 of my ste,s expected to get 1 meg . Showed 4 meg happy days . I had another with 4 X 256 k Simms in . Tried that showed 4 meg .
The icing on the cake I just tried my 4160 ste and that shows 2 meg . Am I going mad or just extremely stupid .
Most of the Simms only have 2 chips
Toshiba tc514400Asj-70.
Am I missing something basic.
I will open the 4160 up later if get chance.
Cheers

tc514400 1M x 4 bit. 2 chips per sim 1M x 8 bit. X 4 simms = 4MB x 8 bit.

Slight update put a 2.06 ROM in the 4160 and the mem test shows 4 meg. So I'm guessing it's something on diag cart.
Or I'm a muppet
