Buy lots of Atari ST bits they said. Want a Sega Megadrive motherboard, probably doesn't work?

Oh go on then.

Always wanted one of these when they came out, so 1 multi cart later and a quick dust down. Add a power supply socket. Plug it in and were in business.

Just using the coax out at the moment, and the colours were going a little crazy, will make up an rgbcable the weekend but as the console has warmed up the flickering has stopped, so maybe some recapping is required too?

Anyway, off back to me yoof this weekend with my very own Megadrive :D

Up for a game of Sonic anyone?

Nice. I revived a few of these for coworkers. Mostly recapped and that was enough to bring them back to life.

That's good to know, as I've got a second one here too that I've not tried yet. This one has a case though :)

In other news,

I've managed to fix both the IDE board (blown cap) and the STFM motherboard (again similar thing) that had died when my TF534 died, so that makes me a happy boy today.

I've decided that I hate round pin sockets and headers but that leaves me wondering what I can use instead for when building upgrades for my Ataris.

Got my 1040STe up and running and tested, had to persuade the floppy to work, which was a problem with the eject mechanism and the disk detection switch, now working great, thanks to threatening it with a pair of long nose pliers but treating it after to a nice dose of oil.

Did try and get my Alpha board working and believe I'm nearly there, just got to see what else is missing as well as the Vsync etc etc.

My Megadrive RGB to scart leads arrived, which makes it look super smooth if not bloody huge on my TV.

So next steps, sell two STe's and a 1040 STFM that i'm not really using.

Best to progress to hating any sort if socket or connection ;)

The last 68k sockets and header pins I got, I had them in the ultrasonic cleaner to see if it improves me luck.

And has it worked yet? or is that still in progress?

Very easy to fit and the existing power pins from the SR98 fit into the new PSU nice and snuggly once cleaned up.

I hope to give it a real good testing when my vofa et4000 adaptor and graphics cards arrive next week.

The red even matches the sils next to the roms
