Re: Icky Projects
I dunno. Copper is fine as long as you're not up at the 10Gb/40Gb speed. You can have 100 metre cable range. Put in multiple ones and LACP them together into a resilient high bandwidth link. Cheaper than fibre and easier to terminate.
Intro retro computers since before they were retro...
ZX81->Spectrum->Memotech MTX->Sinclair QL->520STM->BBC Micro->TT030->PCs & Sun Workstations.
Added code to the MiNT kernel (still there the last time I checked) + put together MiNTOS.
Collection now with added Macs, Amigas, Suns and Acorns.

Re: Icky Projects
Normal UTP, STP (or FTP) is not made for putting it in the ground. Water will seep over time through outer plastic layer.
If put next to mains, defiently use STP or FTP cable. Or fibre of course

Re: Icky Projects
@DoG It's got to be fibre as the run is over 100m and the only easiest route is to follow the armoured mains cable through the house and down the garden. I have found an armoured fibre cable that should work.
Re: Icky Projects
Half the retro stash has arrived an in a corner waiting on a location but need to get some shelving like @rubber_jonnie to store nicely. The other half requires another trip and also pick up the Giant Panda printer.

Re: Icky Projects
I sort of figured out where to put my MiST box and have the joystick ports easily accessible, 3M tape is magical stuff. Just need to tidy up the wires or the office will look like @exxos' workshop
Re: Icky Projects
You need to get to the point where It looks like an electronics factory has exploded to get to that point

Re: Icky Projects
@exxos Looks like there will soon be plenty more additions to the shop! Or are they not yet destined to be donor systems?
