Had enough of how loud the fans were on my PC even when running at minimum speed. So Influenced by Linus tech tips and his Noctua fans.. Actually specification wise they are half the noise of my existing fans.. But half of the noises from the bearings which I was looking for FDB types, but the noctua ones appear to be basically the same thing, or at least not using bearings! As with most things, less noise equals less airflow.. But I have 3x 120mm fans around the CPU which should be perfectly fine even running at half the airflow as before.. Of course the fans are running at minimum speed and will ramp up if the CPU heats up more, but worse case it can only really go as loud as it was before anyway.. Overall it is so much quieter it is unbelievable.. Id say 95% less fan noise.. It was almost deafening before right next to my head!

Now for the crappy dusty images...

Decided to keep my old PSU and put a new fan in it..

Odd that the 80mm fan came with lots of cables, but the 120mm came with nothing but screws

IMG_5834.jpg

Front of the case gets ripped off so I can remove the front fan.. It was useful in the past to have a bit of airflow over the hard drives, but as there is only one large driving there now, all the others are SSD..

Forgot all about these boards until I found them just...

These are mostly for original machines using a floppy drive which needs a twist in the cable... These boards will un-twist the cable and they also have the resistor mods on there.. so we should not have to do the resistor mod on the 1772 buffers..
