Just because a lot of people agree on something, doesn't make it a fact. ~exxos ~

Wondering how many bodge wires will be required.
If it ain't broke, test it to Destruction.
Re: exxos blog - random goings on
Had enough of how loud the fans were on my PC even when running at minimum speed. So Influenced by Linus tech tips and his Noctua fans.. Actually specification wise they are half the noise of my existing fans.. But half of the noises from the bearings which I was looking for FDB types, but the noctua ones appear to be basically the same thing, or at least not using bearings! As with most things, less noise equals less airflow.. But I have 3x 120mm fans around the CPU which should be perfectly fine even running at half the airflow as before.. Of course the fans are running at minimum speed and will ramp up if the CPU heats up more, but worse case it can only really go as loud as it was before anyway.. Overall it is so much quieter it is unbelievable.. Id say 95% less fan noise.. It was almost deafening before right next to my head!
Now for the crappy dusty images...
Decided to keep my old PSU and put a new fan in it..
Checking the fan will look like it fits..
Look at my feking expensive 80mm fan with its buggy bumpers
Wow how easy is this to change the fan!
Fitted in place..
Cable management check! *shoves*
120mm fan about to go in..
Odd that the 80mm fan came with lots of cables, but the 120mm came with nothing but screws
Rear fan fitted!
Thing of beauty joy forever And I went for spaced pins so they did not block with just as easy... I guess they still block up over time then
CPU fan fitted.
Removing the top plastic vent things.. what fun that was..
Some more dust for your enjoyment..
Could not get at the back screws on the banter that to rip off the top section of the case as well
Old top case fan a bit dusty
Why are the fan headers in the most impossible place to get at
Front of the case gets ripped off so I can remove the front fan.. It was useful in the past to have a bit of airflow over the hard drives, but as there is only one large driving there now, all the others are SSD..
Not like that from firm was doing much anyway it seems...
A bit more dust..
Another stupid bit to remove...
Pile of old fans..Of which I am not a fan of! boom boom tsk!
To bid metal panel off and more dust...
Cleaned covers back on..
... and done!
Now the brick hard drive hass turned off, the volume is just half again on the PC

Re: exxos blog - random goings on
So much dust lol, this is what happens when you have cats.
Re: exxos blog - random goings on
No cats here Like 10 years dust with no cats, or 6 month with cats.. girlfriends old PC I hacksawed the side off the case and put a car air filter on it the dust was that much of a problem.

Re: exxos blog - random goings on
Forgot all about these boards until I found them just...
These are mostly for original machines using a floppy drive which needs a twist in the cable... These boards will un-twist the cable and they also have the resistor mods on there.. so we should not have to do the resistor mod on the 1772 buffers..
