Time for me to start hoarding sr98 cap kits then.
If it ain't broke, test it to Destruction.

Re: exxos blog - random goings on
I think I found a solution for generating 12V on future H5 boards... The idea being that at some point a simple 5V only switch mode can be used..

Re: exxos blog - random goings on
Thats really interesting and from the last pic can be a simple plug-in board to and existing H5/H4 if its driven off of a 5V only PSU.
Re: exxos blog - random goings on
Question @exxos , looks like a great solution but I'm assuming it has limited current capability... maybe enough for a couple chips etc. If some one plugged in a floppy that requires 12v I'm guessing it just folds back and doesn't burnup? Looks great thought.
Re: exxos blog - random goings on
It does have thermal protection.. But I really think people should not be using drives that old with a H5 anyway. It claims it can push 350mA.. I don't know how much to 12V pulls on the old floppy drives.. ? But nothing on the H5 even needs 12V other than the RGB port.. That is mostly just for scart switching.. Pretty much there is no real need the 12 V at all any more..

Back to a previous plot..
This *was* how it was supposed to fit together..
Problem being I seemed to have mistakenly assumed the bolts go right through the motor not just in a few millimetres on one end So now there is no way for me to mount this motor

I intend to have a floppy drive on mine for sure. But I guess the H5C1 is not impacted by this proposed change.exxos wrote: ↑Fri Apr 23, 2021 4:29 pmIt does have thermal protection.. Re: exxos blog - random goings on
The drives don't need 12V anymore... The inverter is a optional add-on for pretty much any board..I am certain not forcing this is a change to anyone. And is looking into cheaper solutions for powering the board as my own power supplies are unlikely to keep selling because of the postage costs for ever increasing.TheNameOfTheGame wrote: ↑Fri Apr 23, 2021 6:47 pm I intend to have a floppy drive on mine for sure. Re: exxos blog - random goings on
The 12th revision... This time the motor will slot into the top section so I can screw it on the top into the motor.. Is actually made a lot of things a lot simpler because there is less holes everywhere now... So even though it has to print more area, it may make a bit of time in not having to mess about with the holes as much...
I need to find something like some heat resistant washers to space the motor away from the plastic, as I don't know how hot the motor will get, it could potentially melt the plastic otherwise.. But I can wait until the next revision
