Its threaded bar.

It seems the printer itself when you change it directly in the menu, does not actually save settings  So even though it does not respond to the M92 command, it does seem to actually set the figures, so doing some code fiddles for that now.

There is enough metal in this printer to kill just about anything I think

The motor now runs, so onto the next problem. The motor didn't seem to have enough umpth still. Long story short, I booked up my meter to measure the amps to the motor. It pretty much works until I get over 1.0amps and the meter doesn't go up anymore. Setting 0.5amps give 0.47 on my meter, so good enough.

Marlin firmware throws a sulk after 2.0amps but my meter never sees that current. So I can only assume its limited on the board somewhere ? IIRC the drivers are plug in driver modules, so maybe I can swap them out for something higher power ?

These boxes of goodies arrived today.

First thing I did was to power up one of the power supplies.. Where the overvoltage protection kept on tripping

The 5 V was spot on..

The 12 V did not get much past 8volts because it was powering down.

Looking at the input voltage (13V) and the voltage across the voltage protection zener (11.40v)

Seems for some reason China fitted a 13V zener instead of a 20V one

But I will double check they did not mix the 20V 5V and 12V diodes up just in case..

Frankly annoying as at a minimum I now need to change 100 didoes :(

In these instances does this company have any protocol if they make mistakes like this? Surely it's a large enough mistake to either get a large refund or to have the entire thing re-done?

Not really. It's not like I can send them all back without spending £100's in shipping again. Though they did mess up one of the batches of 4MB MMU boards a while back, they put all the header pins on wrong side of the board! They just asked could I accept that.. nope.. Then they said could I accept it if they push all the pins through.. nope.. So they had to redo the whole project. Though in that case it was caught before they shipped them to me!

But it is difficult to really prove I think. Some years ago I think I requested 2oz copper and I think they used 1oz. but again it was somewhat difficult to prove it and I gave up in the end.

It's just what you have to deal with when dealing with China. You just have to assume something goes wrong, don't expect any help in fixing it.

Got a reply back from PCB house..
I have checked and we did not use substitute part for them, but we found a mistake of typing.
ZD13 and ZD20 are different, one is 13V while the other is 20V, We bought all of them with 13V.
Please send Excel version to us next time so we will not make this kind of mistake.
At the end of our quotation, We mention"ZD13.ZD20 are the same" which is not the same.
However, this is our mistake, Please kindly let me know how to help to fix of ZD20.
So they messed up  they could have loaded my text file into excel anyway  nothing they can really do to help. At last they admitted they messed up. I guess I'll be busy tomorrow swapping diodes
