My first draft syringe holder... idea is that the syringe will slot into the bottom section, and slot into the top.. Though looking at it now, I think the bottom section may have to be open , and have some form of clamp.. as I can see there be no way to angle the syringe enough to plug it into the bottom

EDIT:

A shorter bottom section might work

Anyway, I need to add a big square on top somehow to fit the stepper motor to... hmm....

EDIT:

Not totally sure how well the top section will print because it "overhangs" , hence the slops...

Apologies if this is asked elsewhere already, but what are you using for your 3D model designs?

I still find myself using Tinkercad for everything, because of a fatal combination of it actually doing things fairly well and me wanting to actually get something done each time I need a model, thus never taking the time to learn another platform.

The big boys use fusion360 but I can't get on with it, it just irritates me . DS5 Is great. There are short videos on how to do stuff but I mean , click circle tool, draw size done. I found bugs in it  but its improved a lot in version 5.

Like you, I just want to get things done without really leaning anything. So DS5 works great for me.

Ah, now I know why it didn't look familiar. Windows only. :)

Yeah, I've played a bit with Fusion 360 and it's ... a bit much. I've looked a little bit at Blender (also a bit much), FreeCAD, and OpenSCAD, but I keep ending up back on Tinkercad, because despite being the entry level product, and despite lacking important features, like a proper export, it's actually really good at what it does.

Is tinkercad the one which has a lib of parts like nuts etc ? I might have used it once..

IIRC DS5 engine is what's used in another 3D program, but expensive stuff, they might support other platforms..

Yeah, and fully web-based, which is both a blessing and a curse. It's really nice to be able to just fire up a browser on any device and log in and have all my projects right there, but the downside of course is that connectivity is required, and also all your objects (in editable form) are in their possession, not yours. It'll export STLs, etc., but nothing that can be edited, except as a whole piece.

Even with those downsides, I still quite like it, and I've become pretty good at it. It just sometimes feels a bit too much like "My First 3D Modeller", so I keep telling myself I need to graduate to something the big boys and girls use, but I haven't yet found the time/motivation to learn anything else.

Lie it flat on the bed then you shouldn't need any supports. The syringe hole should print fine.
