The result..

The pink part is the part actually printed, obviously with the support fill on the sides.

Square at the back is the "prime tower". The white copy on the left is purely down to oozing.

Not sure why it has a horizontal band about halfway up the

I think it is breaking away from the bed now  Should have used a high temperature

Aside from the odd horizontal banding, I think it printed out pretty well for a first attempt.

Next one turned out a lot better. Seems the horizontal lines coincide with the infill on the vents..

Dont'ya hate it when its 3.30am and you got a song stuck in'ya head and can't find out what it is   .

Anyway, printer saga continues. Been trying to figure out the gaps in the bottom layers again. Long story short, the bed isn't level. Problem seems to be, no matter how many times I level it, it never seems level. I've gone from paper, to the card which came with the printer, and the thin metal sheets which are 0.22mm. Regardless of if I move the card to grip on the head a tiny bit, or a lot, it all makes no odd whatsoever.

Earlier I just printed a large hollow square and tweaked it by eye instead. The front seems fine always, but the back was a full screw turn out! I was having to print with a 150% width to even get it close to solid. But it would gum-up after a few layers as the bed isn't level. So now my square prints perfectly.

I don't get how I could be failing to calibrate with card sheets or whatever. I must have tried 100 times this past week. My new plan is to use a "force sensor". These are very thin and give a resistance based on the pressure on it. So my idea is to put that between the head and bed, and adjust until I get the same resistance on the bed corners. How it is now seems pretty spot on, so the sensor *should* give the same reading on each corner. Or something very close. No idea HW accurate it will be, but worth a try.

I have ramped it up to 240c now. And also lowered the support print speed to 30% to see if that will help it to stick or not.

Following on a little from the temperature measurements from this thread viewtopic.php?f=13&t=4637

After trying to use the IR probe, it would only really vary from 30c-45c at best, regardless of extruder temperature. I found my contact probe and indeed the block is about 30c below what the display says. So there is nothing wrong with the temperature.

But while probing and my hands were close to the block, I felt the draft from the two extruder fans. So I covered up the gap with some bodge tape. Now the print is looking a lot better and it looks more "wet" when it is put down.

I have increased the amps to the motor slightly and reduce the travel speed. Basically because I was getting "layer shifts". I think in part as the head moves to the left very fast when not printing, it pulls on the filament spool hard and it causes the motor to skip a step or two. So slowing it down and increase in the motor power should hopefully solve that problem.

In other news I have been collecting parts to build a batch of 100 PSUs. I decided to get my friends to change the diodes as I just do not have time. Plus he will fit the transformers and soak test them. So hopefully these will start appearing stock over the next few weeks.

These new power supplies have a 5V adjuster on them. I have found across batches of chips the tolerances seem to be drifting a fair bit. So it is difficult to set the voltage exactly to 5V all the time. So to solve this problem there is a preset which will allow thing like a variation between 4.5V - 5.5V.

When I actually get this printer working properly, my next task will be to work on the TOS206 decoder boards and 16Mhz booster variants. I also know there is a lot of is stuff going out of stock in my store lately. I just have not had time to do stock for it. But hopefully when the printer madness ends I can slowly start to catch up again. Likely this will be ongoing for some weeks or months.

I think this printer will go out of the window very soon :pullhair: It seems the bed temperature sensor has gone totally nuts now.

Previously I managed to print out something at least. But I was having warping issues on the left :(

IMG_7015.JPG

Several attempts later, I thought I would just try 0.1mm height...

IMG_7019.JPG

But that started turning into a blobby mess..

I thought I would try 0.4mm height of the bed better and not warp as easily.. Now this happens...

Some odd reason I end with odd oscillations in the print was just get magnified the time it prints a layer on top. Lowering the speeds does seem to help but it just happens later on instead.

@exxos it does look like a bed adhesion issue. Have you got any of that blue build tape? Try that if so. I have a textured glass bed and that works great as long as I keep it very clean.
If it ain't broke, test it to Destruction.
