Re: Building a DIY large bed 3D printer
So I'm sat in my cold Geek Room (as the missus calls it, so its kinda stuck) and its 17C. Turned the printer on and am quarter of the way through a got adaptor for this Spectrum +3, its now a nice 25C in here.
Just checking you've thought about room cooling as well as print cooling when you start that monster up

If it ain't broke, test it to Destruction.
Re: Building a DIY large bed 3D printer
I know what you mean as my little printer has been going non-stop and the room get quite warm. I think I am going to call this big printer Big Panda as its in a black and white theme.PhilC wrote: ↑Sat Sep 28, 2019 11:16 am So I'm sat in my cold Geek Room (as the missus calls it, so its kinda stuck) and its 17C. Re: Building a DIY large bed 3D printer
Have settled on the name Giant Panda for this beast. The custom aluminium print bed (550mm x 350mm x 8mm) was delivered last week. It has been milled to provide the four mounting points on each long side. As you can see with the ST case bottom for size, it fits nicely and the heater bed is next to stick to the bottom of the plate.
Re: Building a DIY large bed 3D printer
A bit more progress on the Giant Panda. It's starting to look like a real printer. Still a long way to go and need to print out some new parts but stupidly I decided to upgrade the mainboard of my existing printer which isn't such plain sailing.
Re: Building a DIY large bed 3D printer
This is for sure the only 3D printer specifically designed and constructed to print out ST cases
Great work, I am really looking forward to see the finished thing
