Mandatory fixes have the address and data bus resistors change to 2.2K not 10K.. 10K is original.. You need to measure resistance on A1 to 5V to see what value it has.

I measured ohm between a1 and vcc. It was approx 560 and was ticking upwards for some reason to around 571. A4 reached about 661 ohm

That does not seem correct.. The ST won't function with values lower than 2K.. so I don't know why you have such low values..

Is it on DMA/WD1772 side you are measuring?

I measured between these points. Please disregard the resistor, it was an attempt to do some pullup but was not successfull. Also even though the leg from the resistor to right is close to the right pin there is no contact so no need to worry about that :)

Just to confirm you are measuring this with the power turned off?

I was suggest you send your machine to @PhilC To diagnose because you seem to have a lot of really strange issues going on there which do not make much sense..

TF536 lives on 1040STFM

Post by Technoid6502 »

Well, it works.

I added 4mb of ST ram using Exxos's plug-in board set, then failed with his DualTOS board, smoked the rom is my guess.

So, with Tos 1.04 onboard and 4meg I was able to boot MiNT from my Ultrasatan. I had basically no memory free, but I could run it.

I needed more ram, went looking for a solution and found it in the STORM 8mb board. While I was at it I bought the "Cloudy" TOS board with emutos 1.01 and Tos 2.06. Those came in this week and worked perfectly out of the box. With EmuTos and MiNT I have some 9meg free of the 12megs total.

Now that I had EmuTOS/Tos 2.06 in rom, I decided to try the TF536 again. Previously I had gotten some real life out of it, but without an 030'-aware TOS could not get further.

Last night I stacked the TF536 on top of Cloudy on top of Storm and BOOM! The thing just works. I have floppy, I have DMA port (Ultrasatan). So far I have nothing to complain about at all. Will take some photos this evening to share.

I've not yet tested the onboard IDE jack. We'll see if I can get better performance from that versus UltraSatan. the US gets a little over 1meg per second throughput. Not bad, but I know the IDE jack will probably double that.

I'm running the Alpha version of the TF536 firmware for Atari, it is the only version available. I bought this TF configured for Amiga and reprogrammed the CPLD when the TF arrived.

The stack of boards under my keyboard keeps the case open and the keyboard cocked well over to the left. I placed an order for a flexible CPU relocator. We'll see how that goes. I hope to be able to close the case on this thing sometime in the next couple of weeks. The relocator I ordered has two boards with a ribbon cable between them, should give me the ability to stash the TF/Cloudy/Storm stack between the power supply and the internal Gotek.

Strange but true, the 8meg of 'Alternate ram' on the Storm board is not duplicated by the TF. EmuTOS reports 72meg of total memory and MiNT reports the same.

Best,

Jeff

Thats very interesting Jeff. My TF536 did not work well on PhilC's original Atari STfms either. A hunch is saying that it might be ram related. But i opted to go for PhilCs offer and buy his H4 board :) But later on i will try to get a ram upgrade and see if TF works then.

Post som pictures of the CPU relocator. That would be interestting to see.
