Found at the bottom of my drawer - does it count as retro?

Post by rubber_jonnie »

Looking for some other missing component, I found this at the bottom of a drawer earlier today, still charges and powers up :)

Not so sure any of the useful Blackberry bits will still work though.

I believe they switched off the infrastructure last year. Found this:

It certainly looks retro and 10-14 years for a phone age probably drops it in to that category!

I guess it was time for them to go, hardware is a tough business these days and they didn't play it very well.

I consider my Nokia N-Gage to be retro. That has to be approx the same age?

Ah yes, the N-Gage, the flaming disaster that was actually designed to look like one of the original internet shock sites. Good times. (Caveat emptor: If you are not familiar with the reference in that thread, be very careful what you google for.)

The last time I tried the Handspring Treo 600 the battery, with the phone radio off, still lasted 10 days on a charge.
Intro retro computers since before they were retro...
ZX81->Spectrum->Memotech MTX->Sinclair QL->520STM->BBC Micro->TT030->PCs & Sun Workstations.
Added code to the MiNT kernel (still there the last time I checked) + put together MiNTOS.
Collection now with added Macs, Amigas, Suns and Acorns.

I very nearly went down the Handspring route and had a Visor for a while with a GPS module.

I guess that my original Palm Pilot Pro may be deemed retro by now then.
