The current model takes 04h 04min on my printer, Cura says.Forgottenmyname wrote: ↑Wed Aug 22, 2018 2:00 pm can give you an estimate of print time and cost by loading the .stl into Cura? And when my workshop is no longer "upside down" would be happy to try printing it?
PSU bracket remake ?
Re: PSU bracket remake ?
Re: PSU bracket remake ?
Thats not too bad and can be printed at lower quality settings as the "finish" is not as important as strength.
If it ain't broke, test it to Destruction.

Was there any more progress with this project ?

Re: PSU bracket remake ?
It's been on my mind all the time but had priorities elsewhere. I'll try to do a complete print job in the next few days so I can try to fit it in a real ST.
Once that's done and no spacing problems remain, I can work on model strength and other optimisations (use less filament by adding meshes etc.)
So, at that stage the thing should still work with an original psu, which I think is a good thing even though most future applications will be with psu remakes, I think? Having both just seems nice and it's easy to stay compatible.
Re: PSU bracket remake ?
Keeping the design original is good as it fits anything then (almost) . Likely main use is new PSU builds I think though. I am not sure how many people would need to or want to fit a plastic base for a PSU.

Re: PSU bracket remake ?
When you're done I'll print this as well (Ultimake 2) and verify with one of many PSUs laying around here. I have M3 nuts and bolts already.
Good remake of the original metal design into something more suitable for 3D printing!

Re: PSU bracket remake ?
Did a little work on it today, front legs are finished now, added a mesh for additional strength (could be left as an option).
So basically only the two rear legs remain, besides the refinements that of course will come as a result of testing an actual print.

Re: PSU bracket remake ?
That'd be great! I'm using tooth lock washers as well, see earlier pictures of my first trial prints of one of the legs. I'm not sure if they are absolutely necessary but they provide additional grip on the plastic and when tightening the bolt, not all force is transferred to the plastic, rather to the washer compressing a bit.

Looks great to me. I can run a copy off to if you wish?
