How to place photos in a post

Post by Icky »

It may not be obvious but placing your images / photos inline in a post makes for a more aesthetic look and is the preferred way of displaying your photos. In addition make sure you don't link to images on external sites as they can create broken links if the external site has issues.

It's easy to forget to click the Place inline button and that ends up with a post like this with all your photos at the end of a post marked as attachments. The picture below is of the post preview to show the attachment area and buttons as well:

However with the Place inline button you can place the cursor where you want the picture to be and click the Place inline and it will put the photo at that point in the post. One other tip is to add an extra new line around the pic to move the text away from it. The following images is of the same post but with the photo inline and spaced with new lines.

BUMP - (still looking for a :bump: icon @exxos)

Have seen a few images not being placed in line on the forum recently.

Please make sure when adding an image to also place inline so that the images flow with the text.

Me too, so worth the reminder. Also seen a few hosted externally, so have reminded folks this is not the way to do it.

Folks also do not forget to rotate your pictures so they're on their side or upside down. We need a neck workout in these covid times

Don't think that your movements and motives haven't gone unnoticed @terriblefire. You have recently been corrected by the photo correction department :)

Bump also.

Please do attach your pics as per the instructions in this post rather than simply attaching them.

As a reminder. Linking to external images is not permitted on this forum. So can people please be aware that linking to *any* external site, such as imgur, twitter, dropbox etc will always end up broken.

Please take screenshots and upload those for twitter posts, you can still post links to the post, BUT there must also be a screenshot.

Similar with linking to images and files to dropbox type accounts. You must upload the files to the forum. You can still post links , but you must have it uploaded as well, as one day the external links will die, and we all know the internet is full of too many broken links as it is.
