I looked up the SOM becuase I'd never heard of them before... they start at £30+VAT ish from Mouser. The board is not going to be cheap.

There is going to be some serious routing going on for that board. Hats off to them fitting it all in although will be a nightmare to build yourself, would definitely need an assembly place to do it for you.

This is a very interesting development. Would this work on the H5 boards seeing as it is DIP?

If all the signals and behaviour of the 68k has been properly implemented, I believe that it could.

On the H5, if you have a free 3.3v extension port, one could also design an alternate pcb with the level shifter removed ?

Anyway not for me. I plan to go the fpga way later this year. And first things first, I need to start my H5 build...
