NEW STOS & COMPILER V300 ST/STE VERSION

NEW STOS & STOS COMPILER V300

Petari has kindly spent a lot of time fixing the STOS compiler to allow compiled programs to run on any TOS versions without the need for patching afterwards. The second bit of good news, is that while the latest official version of the compiler was 2.7, which only seems to have been available with the STOS 3D package, has since been updated with the assembly source code of version 208 which was posted by Francois Lionet on the Click Team's website some years ago. This is great news as we now have the updated V2.8 source, which has further been updated by petari creating version 3.00!

I (exxos) have also fixed some bugs in the compiler ACB and updated to suit the new V3.00 compiler. I have also added in a quick help section to explain what the options are in the compiler.

Anyone starting out or getting back to STOS *should* use this new V3 version to prevent compatibility issues with other TOS versions.

Hi Chris, a quick question re. running STOS in an emulator. I recall a few years back running into a couple of problems where sprites weren't quite behaving correctly once I ran my code (I remember they just didn't behave the same way as they would on a real ST). So far what is the best emulator and configuration you have found if you were to have a STOS development platform running on a PC, as such?

I use Steem. Done stos and hisoft basic in it. Never had any issues with it from what I can remember.. Might have been a DMA playback bug for the ste,but that was years ago and got fixed. Steem gets updated all the time and if there was any emulation bugs they would be investigated. I use tos 104 & 206 with it.
