If you have a board revision that has all 6 ROMs in one row, you may easily replace them by two 1Mb Flash EPROMs. As for 256kb EPROMs - I've recently bought the 27C256 OTP EPROMs for 1€/piece. If you need to have own programmer, you may buy it for $35 on Aliexpress (TL866CS).

Unfortunately, it has them in 2 rows of 3 sockets and it doesn't have the chip and jumpers to configure it for two ROMs.

One soothing factor is that the mainboard is silly style (a rather funny term coined up by Exxos) and therefore has sub-par video quality so it's not a very nice machine to work with.

I'll keep my eyes open regarding a cheap 6-chip solution though, especially if I were to buy an EPROM programmer if I wanted to upgrade my other STs to TOS 1.04 (they have 2-chip ROM sets).

Can you tell me the product code of the 1Mb Flash EPROMs that are compatible with the ST? This could be very interesting for flashing my other STs to TOS 1.04 (or the upcoming 1.05 with better hard drive support etc.)

Virtually any 001/010 Flash will be fine. I was using Intel P28F001, SST 29EE010, SST 39SF020, and Winbond W49F020. Mostly they were 150ns and 70ns versions. I also have 39SF040, but didn't try them (they would fit 4 versions of TOS).
