MSTE PSU has 25V cap instead of 10V - safe to replace?

Post by sandord »

I'm currently recapping a MSTE PSU for a friend. I'm following instructions from http://www.exxosforum.co.uk/atari/last/p ... x.htm#MEGA.

There's a 10V 100uF cap according to the list but this PSU has a 25V one. Is it safe to replace it? I just want to be sure not to blow up his machine :?

The PSU is a REV-A1.

Okay, I suspected something like that... but I don't have the schematic. I tried to look for it on Google already... That cap's a C8. No problem if you don't have time of course.

Never mind! I mixed up two caps (C8 and C19), everything's fine. Sorry for wasting your time. I need to learn to keep my mouth shut and look further. I get to hear that at home now and then and for a reason!

Its on my site..

http://www.exxosforum.co.uk/atari/last/p ... tm#PSM5341

I think there was some confusion of that cap before at some point.. I think people were mixing it up with the one in the PG circuit.. was some huge thread about it ages ago..

There is a 25V 100uF and a 10V uF in there... so I think your just mixing the 2 voltages up there...

I was sure someone posted a image of all this a while ago, but can't find it now :(

I think I mixed them up because the replacement of C19 physically resembles the original C8 much more than it's proper replacement (half height-ish).

True, but I think I need to put a question jar on my desk and put a €2 coin in it every time I ask a question that takes up your precious time. Then, when the jar is full, order something cool from your store
