I agree with Exxos. Firstly try and purchase the combel chip from best & then get it installed.

Apologies -- might be teaching granny to suck eggs -- but completely white display is what you see if the CPUBGI / CPUBGO jumper isn't in place on the smaller of the two expansion pin headers.

Before you start desoldering Combels, have you double (and triple!) checked the jumper's in the right place and making decent contact?

It should be, looking at the board from the keyboard side, on the farthest row of the smaller expansion header, bridging the fifth and sixth pin from the right.
